Amherst in Bloom...  To celebrate Amherst's 250th Anniversary 23,000 daffodil bulbs were planted on town commons and parks and in private gardens in the fall of 2008. Local landscapers and students from Stockbridge School of Agriculture donated their time to plant bulbs in October.  Three varieties of daffodils Goblet, Camelot, and Thalia were recommended for planting by the Garden Club of Amherst because they are best suited for an early May blooming time.

Families, neighborhoods, churches, schools, and businesses were encouraged to join in the celebration and beautify their landscapes with these early May blooming daffodils.

Special thanks to Dolly Jolly for conceiving and coordinating this terrific project which will beautify our community for many many years too come.
