Clydesdales make Historic Beer Deliveries in Downtown
Thursday 6:30-10pm
The Budweiser Clydesdales, the beverage industry's most recognizable
mascots, are coming to the Pioneer Valley!
The ten
Clydesdales, their professional handlers and Dalmatian dogs are in the area for
a series of private events and will next be seen in public on Thursday September 24 when they will make Historic Deliveries to 12 downtown Amherst locations. Look for the full team between 6:30 and 10:15pm throughout downtown. One case of commemorative beer will be delivered to each of the following:
Bertucci’s, The Spoke, Charlie’s Tavern, The Pub, Cousin’s Market, Amherst Wine’s and Spirits, The Monkey Bar/ Bistro 63, Stacker’s Pub, Judie’s Restaurant, McMurphy’s Uptown Tavern, Russell’s Liquors & Pasta E Basta.
The Clydesdale's
are appearing courtesy of
Williams Distributors and R&P Liquors in Amherst.
The Amherst
250th anniversary parade, which is set to kick off at 1 p.m. in the center of
town, will be the biggest parade in Amherst history. Twenty bands and more than
2000 people will march, representing more than 100 marching units ranging from
the Budweiser Clydesdale team to the Emily Dickinson Museum to the Melha
Shriners.
What's more,
descendants of the town's namesake, Lord Jeffery Amherst, will be attending
from Kent, England and representatives of other "Amhersts" around the country
have been invited to watch the parade from the reviewing stand in Kendrick
Park.
The UMass
Minutemen Marching Band will lead the parade off at 1 p.m. from the Amherst
College campus. The parade will then head north through the center of town
onto the university campus and disband there.
Parade grand
marshals are lifetime town residents Stephen Puffer, Jr, Barry Roberts and Stan
Ziomek.
