“We’ve been working for months to plan a party that will honor the events
of 2009, our town, the people—everything that is
Amherst ,” explained Maureen Raab, chairwoman of
the gala planning committee. “It should be a really fun evening.”
The gala will begin at 6 p.m.
with the band
Paris , who will perform until 10 p.m. DJ
John Benedict from Bella Notte will then take over the musical reins for the
remainder of the night.
A sumptuous spread of delicious appetizers, dinner and desserts cooked up
by UMass catering will keep revelers well-fueled for the duration of the
evening.
“This is going to go down in the annals of the history of
Amherst as a significant
event,” said Cinda Jones, a member of the gala planning committee. “Years from
now people will look back on the pictures of the evening just as we look at
photos from previous celebrations today.”
